In the role of Team Leader, you will support the smooth operation of a fast-moving pick-pack warehouse environment. Assist in the day to day running within the warehouse function, to help the company’s daily targets and objectives are meet. Ensuring team members comply with business health and safety expectations and work to standard practices. Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained and new processes rolled out and supported.
Working closely with the Transport and Inventory Management team is also key to this team’s success. The quality and service provided by the team is paramount.
You will be engaging with other Shift team members and with your Shift Lead support and Lead trainer this role will encompass team development plans including your own personal development.
Ensure the team are aligned to the moral and ethical standards expected from them within a diverse working environment and across varying shift patterns. Supporting your Shift Lead also in dealing with various employee related issues.
Key areas of responsibility
- Encourage safe working environment, adhering to health, safety and environmental
- procedures and ensuring they are understood and practised by the staff.
- Support daily team briefing at shift start/close for consistent and improved communication on expectations, issues and outstanding actions.
- Learning/using WMS system procedures and processes in line with business needs.
- Ensure runs/loads are picked and packed to consistent exacting standards efficiently, accurately and timely.
- Ensure staff consistency in 100% QC checking goods prior to loading out by run or customer as required, creating an auditable trail for customer service level improvements or dispute resolutions.
- Assist in International order pick/despatch requirements as required.
- Communicate and escalate to your Shift Lead as appropriate any delivery non-conformities, load failures and transport issues as pro-actively as possible.
- Ensure all relevant procedures and processes are followed and adhered to inline with the company’s procedures and requirements.
- Support standard work and quality processes are implemented to ensure a team disciplined ‘right first time’ approach is adhered to.
- Ensure handling equipment checks are completed daily.
- Assist on skills gaps within the team so we can ensure adequately trained and competent.
- Assist in company absence control to ensure maximum attendance levels.
- Liaise with CS, suppliers, stock control, purchasing and transport as and when required.
- Support CI processes and procedures to improve shift operations.
Skills and experience
- Support team-based problem solving.
- Possess the ability to lead and motivate.
- Good understanding of the impact of failure/cost of poor quality.
- Able to achieve results when under pressure.
- Good communication skills. Computer literate, or willingness to learn.
- WMS understanding/experience or willing to learn.
