Our Warehouse team plays a vital role in ensuring our customers receive accurate, high-quality deliveries every day, and we are looking for a flexible and reliable Warehouse Operative to support both our Goods In and Evening Shift operations.
The Role
Food Republic is looking for a capable and proactive Warehouse Operative (Goods In / Evening Shift Picker) to join our Warehouse team based in Battersea.
This is a varied role combining responsibilities across both the Goods In and Evening Warehouse Picking Operations teams. The successful candidate will support the safe and efficient receipt, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch of chilled and ambient goods, while working closely with Warehouse Operatives, Shift Supervisors, and Managers to ensure the smooth running of the department.
The standard working hours for this role are 10:00am – 6:00pm, Monday to Friday. However, flexibility is essential, as the successful candidate will be required to support other warehouse shifts during planned holidays or operational requirements, including:
- Goods In Shift: 6:00am – 2:00pm
- Evening Shift: 2:00pm – 9:00pm [Including Sundays]
Notice will always be provided where shift cover is required.
Full training on Food Republic systems, processes, Health & Safety procedures, and BRC requirements will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Warehouse Operative include, but are not limited to:
- Loading and unloading chilled and ambient goods from delivery vehicles and lorries
- Picking, packing, and preparing customer orders accurately and efficiently
- Receiving and booking in deliveries
- Basic invoice and delivery note processing
- Operating a counterbalance forklift safely and efficiently
- Moving stock to the correct warehouse locations manually or using mechanical handling equipment
- Ensuring stock accuracy and reporting damaged, faulty, or missing goods
- Managing products with varying shelf lives and temperature requirements
- Investigating and resolving stock variances before the end of the shift
- Supporting both Goods In and Evening Shift operations as required
- Maintaining warehouse cleanliness and organisation standards
- Communicating effectively with suppliers, drivers, and internal departments
- Ensuring all tasks are completed in line with BRC, Health & Safety, and company procedures
- Following instructions and completing tasks set by Shift Supervisors and Warehouse Management
- Assisting with any other warehouse duties as required
The Person
Essential Skills & Experience
- Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence
- Previous warehouse experience
- Flexible attitude with the ability to support different warehouse shifts when required
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Physically fit and capable of lifting moderate to heavy goods
- Quick learner with the ability to adapt to changing operational demands
- Good understanding of spoken and written English
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious
- IT literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Previous experience within a food distribution or FMCG warehouse environment
- Experience working with chilled and ambient products
- Valid UK driving licence
- Valid Reach Truck licence
- GCSE Maths and English (A*–C or equivalent)
