Key Responsibilities: Heathrow Driving, Delivery & Cargo Duties
- Safe & Timely Transport: Execute multi-drop deliveries and collections for Heathrow air freight, import, and export shipments across regional networks, surrounding areas, and key London postcodes in a safe, legal, and professional manner.
- Customs Cargo & Manual Handling: Safely load, unload, and transport import/export freight, ensuring active and careful handling of customs-cleared consignments and general delivery items.
- Vehicle Maintenance & Airport Compliance: Complete mandatory daily pre-shift and post-shift vehicle checks. Report defects immediately and ensure the vehicle remains clean, secure, and compliant with Heathrow airport freight corridor standards.
- Digital Documentation & Customs Tracking: Use a handheld PDA device/smartphone to manage route schedules, review orders, log discrepancies, and manage real-time tracking for import and export documentation and Proof of Delivery (POD).
- Customer Excellence: Deliver an exceptional standard of face-to-face service at every stop, interacting professionally with clients, freight forwarders, and Heathrow cargo agents.
Warehouse Support (Heathrow Import/Export Integration)
- Branch Cooperation: If you return from your delivery route early, you will actively assist your team in our Heathrow air cargo warehouse.
- Import & Export Stock Management: Support daily Heathrow warehouse operations, including unloading inbound import cargo, picking/packing outbound export shipments, carrying out stock checks, and scanning customs-labelled goods.
- CAA & Health & Safety Compliance: Maintain a clean, safe working environment adhering to CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) cargo security and site safety rules across the vehicle and warehouse floor.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Heathrow & Customs Experience: Direct prior experience working within the Heathrow air freight, import/export, or customs clearance sector is strongly preferred.
- Import/Export Familiarity: Working knowledge of air freight, import/export procedures, and customs paperwork/labelling is a significant advantage.
- Licence & Vehicle Control: A valid UK Category B driving licence with experience driving a manual 3.5t commercial van in and around Heathrow and London networks.
- 5-Year CAA Check: Ability to provide a fully checkable 5-year work/education history to satisfy CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) air cargo security accreditation.
- Driving Record: Maximum 6 active penalty points for minor offenses (no active DR, DD, or IN convictions or prior disqualifications).
- Communication & Tech Skills: Strong standard of spoken and written English, with basic IT skills and comfort using digital tracking apps/PDAs for import/export manifests.
- Mindset: A flexible, proactive team player eager to split time productively between Heathrow road transit and warehouse import/export operations.
- Weekend Cover: One day every other week preferred (not essential).
